Episode 18: Natural ReVerberations (36:16)
Yknit 18 Natural ReVerberations

A Verb for Keeping Warm, as well as its founder and owner Kristine Vejar, transcends a simple definition. A business that sells naturally-dyed yarns and fibers and all manner of tools to use those fibers (spindles, wheels, looms, knitting patterns), it's also creating its own unique community (in the Bay Area and online) through education and celebration of traditions and textiles for knitters, crocheters, spinners, weavers, dyers and all people who do labor-intensive work with their hands. Hear how Kristine's childhood connection to sewing and quilting took her to India and the origin of Verb's inspiration.

The following people and topics were mentioned:

Great Podcast! I will have to visit "Verb" next time I am in the Bay Area (I have some relatives out there, including another knitter!)
I would like to enter the Slipstream Sock Pattern contest. The Verb yarn color I like best for these is Kerala. I am an "Autumn" and I don't have any handknit socks or sock yarn in the brown tones, so I'd love to try this!

It doesn't seem right that I can only have one favorite, but if I have to choose, it would be chocolate cherries.

I also appreciate the acknowledgement that there are still a few of us who "only" knit. I've not (yet) been tempted by the spinning bug.

My favorite sock yarn color at the verb is kerala because it's a woodsy color that reminds me of going north to stay at the cabin in the woods and to cuddle by the fireplace.

I love the Hollyhock colorway in the linen yarn. I love the combination of brown and blue and the deep reds that are thrown in there make it even more interesting. It kind of reminds me of a Moroccan tapestry...

What a bummer to have missed the cut off! Nevermind, I wanted to comment all the same - LOVED the episode and LUFF Verb - am seriously thinking of indulging in a bit of Verb, despite living far away (australia) with terrible currency conversion at the moment! My fave verb for keeping warm would have to be SNUGGLE. It's such an ultimately awesome verb on its own, then add the fact that it DOES make you warm and can be done in solitude or (my favourite) with a friend! I think 'snuggle' is a very tactile verb too and suggests all sorts of texture rubbed up aginst the cheek in softness and delight - mmm! And my favourite (and most lusted for) colour would be the Thai Iced Tea - I've been hankering for some of that Thai Iced Tea action for a while now, perhaps the pure silk will lure me... Thanks so much lads, love you work :)
